For the Feast of the Impression of the Stigmata on our Father St Francis the members of the Chapter received a special gift which was offered by the Italian Provincials (CIMCAP). A spiritual concert was performed by Vocalia Consort one of the most outstanding choirs in Italy which was conducted on the occasion by Maestro Marco Berribi. In fact the speciality of this group is that they do not a permanent conductor. However, on occasion because they prefer musical pieces that are based on union of style and theme the group entrusts itself to various talented people who are connected with the nature and content of the musical which they perform.

The programme which was offered to the members of the Chapter was called “Song Turned into Prayer”. It was a celebration of the way St Francis prayed who was described by his biographer as a “man become prayer”. Beginning with a spiritual madrigal in five voices taken from Gioello in 1592 it went on to the famous Seigneur, je vous en prie di Francis Poulenc (1899-1963) and closer to our own time Laudes creaturarum and Oremus by Mauro Zuccante (1962) and Urmas Sisask (1960) In the second part various other kinds of invocations and prayers to the Lord and the Virgin Mary were presented which had been put to music over the centuries. Those who heard this were able to savour the antiphon Salve Reina in a solemn toneand also Spes Mea Christe Deus and So far ich by Heinrich Schutz (1585-1672), the Magnificat by Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1672) and Lobet dem Hern by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750).

The appreciation of the audience was expressed by a long applause at the end. He choir concluded with two pieces taken from their contemporary collection: O sacrum convivium by Luigi Molfino (1916) and Beata viscera Mariae Virginis by Toberto Di Marino (1956).
